NBA All Star Weekend is all set to take place February 16 - 18 in Los Angeles. This year’s edition will feature its first ever player-drafted team, Team Lebron vs Team Stephen, in a “schoolyard pick” draft held entirely between the 2 team captains.
NHL Monthly Recap: January Edition
The race to the Stanley Cup Playoffs begins as teams set their sights on the 2nd half of the NHL season. The Jets and Leafs are firmly entrenched in playoff spots, sitting in 2nd and 4th within their respective conferences. The Flames also currently occupy the 6th seed in the West with Johnny Gaudreau leading the the charge- he is currently sitting 7th in the NHL with 56 points.

The NHL’s best will head to Tampa Bay, FL this weekend to compete in the 2018 NHL All Star Weekend. The weekend will showcase the all-stars’ talent during the NHL All-Star Skills Competition on Saturday January 27th, and on Sunday January 28th the star players will be split into their divisions (Pacific, Central, Atlantic, and Metropolitan) and go to head-to-head in the annual 3-on-3 tournament, the NHL All-Star Game.
Over 9 million Canadians reached during Scotiabank's Hockey Day in Canada
A Canadian tradition over the past 18 NHL seasons, Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada broadcasted live from Corner Brook, Newfoundland on Saturday January 20th. An estimated 25,000 fans came out to Corner Brook to take part in the many festivities, while the rest of Canada tuned into to watch as all seven Canadian teams were part of the day’s matchups. The excitement began at 3pm with the Jets vs the Flames, giving viewers a great first game as the Jets defeated the Flames 2-1 in a shootout. The next two games were in the Prime East spot, with the Leafs vs Senators and the Canadiens vs Bruins. The battle of Ontario was won by the Toronto Maple Leafs, with 3 goals in the third period they defeated the Ottawa Senators 4-3 and the Bruins upset the Canadiens 4-1. The last game of the day was between the Canucks and Oilers, and was another high scoring game as the Edmonton Oilers beat the Vancouver Canucks 5-2.
